He was the one doing and saying crazy things, while she felt the overwhelming need to make sure he was okay, and reassure him that things WERE okay.
Or maybe she was worrying for no reason, which was really against the goals.
Aspen's eyes were WIDE, trying to take in all of Cornelius's features, in spite of his proximity. He was blurry, but of COURSE he was still smiling. She smiled, too, of course. He was GREAT and they were doing this forehead THING and her fingers were happy in between his and sugar quills! This was fun without effort. Easy.
...was fun. Miss Odessa turned quite somber after his announcement and how she made him nervous. O____O She wanted to pull back from him - why would she be in his face if she made him nervous!? That'd just make him MORE nervous! Her mouth opened and closed a few times, fishy-faced, but nothing came out. Even after he further explained himself about WHY she made him nervous - nothing.
She didn't find him weird at all.
Aspen found him to be.... troubling. She felt troubled. "You're going to tell me not to apologize again, but I feel like I should. Being nervous isn't fun," she KNEW all too well, "and ... we're supposed to be having fun." With her free hand, Aspen reached for her quill, then discretely put the end in her mouth. She was careful not to POKE him in the eye, since their foreheads were still connected, but she did thoughtfully suck on the end of her quill. "Am I don't something wrong?" To make him.... nervous? Or to like her so much? THAT wasn't a bad thing, right....?
Good Merlin, how TROUBLING!
Cornelius's smile fell just slightly at Aspen's reaction to his words, really not having expected it.
"N-No, of course you're not doing anything wrong!" he immediately replied to her, shaking his head just slightly and therefore shaking her own head a bit in return, since their foreheads were still together. Realizing this, Cornelius couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle, amusement filling his once-concerned features again. He shared an amused glance with her before separating their foreheads just slightly so he could see her better.
"I'm having a great time," he assured her, in response to her earlier concerns. He brought up his free hand to place a strand of her hair behind her ear as he seemed to be doing a lot recently.
"It's a good nervous, I promise," he explained further, allowing himself to look over her features. He allowed his hand to rest near her ear, still tucking some stray strands of hair back from her face so he could see her expression. Cornelius couldn't help but find her worry rather endearing, watching as she grew concerned with anything she could do to make him not nervous.
As he watched her, he seemed to be a bit more at ease, his nerves seeming to calm slightly as his smile grew once more. Stretching across his entire face, it lit up his expression as he turned his full attention to the girl in front of him.
"It's just...the nervous-ness that comes from.. me, not wanting to mess things up with you."
And he wasn't exactly sure what 'things' were, or what this entire 'thing' was, in general. But he did know for sure that he didn't want to mess it up, because he enjoyed spending time with Aspen quite a lot. And he wanted to show her a good time but he also didn't want to do anything stupid, because above all else, Cornelius was realizing he wanted Aspen Odessa to like him.
