Treyen had made sure that it was already night before coming to the Observatory, since he was carrying his telescope then he doubted that Scabior could take any points from him now.
Granted, he'd made sure not to talk to anyone on his way to this tower, nor to talk to anyone in here as well. Merlin knows if the HoM Professor was waiting around the corner to make his unexpected appearance.
Once in the Observatory, he placed his telescope near one of the windows and...that took him a while, but he was soon looking for his notes and charts to search for whatever he wanted to see up there. It was easier to find than just stargazing for fun. Having a purpose made it all better.
Telescope set. Notes and charts....hey! Got it. He'll be looking for
Vulpecula. Why? He wanted to start small. Plus, it was one of the constellations you got to see during September, so...bring it on!
Eyes on the charts one last time before finally looking through the telescope...well, once he'd set the telescope straight, that is. Okay, so, now it seemed like he was actually looking at something that appeared to be the constellation he was looking for...of course, it was almost 10 pm, he may have missed the time when one saw Vulpecula oh-so-clearly...maybe, maybe not. One tap at the telescope and the 'lens focalis' spell they learned last year...and...there it was! It looked just like it was supposed to...according to textbook descriptions.
He stood there for a few moments, probably 20 minutes or so, watching the night sky, before realizing he should be taking some notes of his own, right? Which he eventually did, before deciding it was time to head down to the Common Room once and for all. He had been in here for almost an hour...
...and he didn't even notice.
So, the telescope was put away, same as the notes and charts, and then he took one last glance at the sky before stepping out.
