Wait, there was a proper way to eat bread? He'd probably been doing it wrong for 16 years. Everything he could think of just sounded rude, but he gave it a shot anyways. Though he would normally raise two hands to answer a question, he only managed one this time due to the lasagna. "Professor, my guess would be to rip it into small, bitesize pieces. But that could be way off." Well, it could.

"I think that if you wanted to, for example, put butter on your roll, you would cut off a moderately-sized piece and put it onto your bread plate. It's probably rude to sit there and keep dipping your knife back in the butter and slathering it all over your roll while people wait. Plus you don't ever want to get crumbs in your butter." Because that would be BAD.

Then you take the butter knife and scoop some butter from the butter dish place it on the side of the roll. From that scoop of butter, you take a smear of butter with your bitter knife and spread it on the piece of bread that you have broken off. Then you delicately place the piece into your mouth taking care not to smear any butter on your lips.

One other thing to remember is that the piece of bread should be small enough to go into your mouth without trying to force a big piece into your mouth which might make one look like a squirrel with stuffed cheeks.

He wasn't used to all the rules and foods and...it just frustrated him that this wasn't as easy as Herbology.

The snake wasn't used to smell of garlic. His mom usually limited the amount of garlic she used in foods because Kennedy didn't much like the smell or taste of it.

At the next question Kennedy thought he might have a suggestion. Not an answer because he most likely would be wrong. He eyed the lasagna, but chose to volunteer his 'suggestion' first, so he raised his hand. "You break it in a bite size so that you eat the bread piece by piece." At least that's what he did because if he didn't his mom would complain that shoving food into his mouth was rude.

Then she paused, a question bubbling to the surface of her mind. "But, Professor, I wonder...how would you eat the roll if you buttered it? Because it seems like cutting it in half, buttering it, and then ripping small pieces would get really messy."

She hoped that made sense and wasn't just stupid.

Another question, great. She raised her hand, "Um- With a knife and fork?" That seemed a correct answer. She had always eaten bread rolls with her fingers, guess she couldn't do that here.

Hand up again "Professor, take a piece and break it off with your hand, to a size that will easily fit your mouth. If its a loaf of bread, hold onto the bread with the cloth that came with the bread basket and use the bread knife to cut a portion for yourself, then lay it on your breadplate. "

Sigh.

OH! LASAGNA! That reminded him of Italy! He could...eat it, just for Italy. And Hadley.

But, first, about that bread thing..., hand raised, "One should break the piece of bread that you'll be taking...and if you want to butter it, just butter that piece. Never cut the bread with a knife." Not while having a meal, that is. Cut it when you're in the kitchen, like him and Conan used to do.

Kurumi had never had lasagna before either, so her knife and fork slipped on the plate, making a soft clanging noise as the two eating utenstils met. She immediately bowed her head to everyone at the tabled and whispered an apology. Good thing none of the sauce had sprayed anywhere at least.

Now they were moving onto the bread and, well, Kurumi's dinner didn't usually consist of bread and whenever it did at home it was always a scramble between her three brothers as to who got to eat the most, so they essentially devoured it in one bit while Kurumi's mother made her tear off small bite and actually count how many times she chewed. Her mother insisted that it was how to behave like a proper lady.

Timidly, Kurumi raised her hand. "I-I suppose that after you have taken a roll from the basket and set it on your breadplate, if there is a basket, and have passed it to your left," it was the left things were being passed, right? Or was it the right? Merlin Kurumi hoped she never had to go to one of these parties...but dating Jonathan almost guaranteed that she would. SIGH. "That you...um...tear off small bit, about bit sized and chew it very slowly?" Kurumi's mother made her chew around seven or eight times before she was allowed to tear off another piece. This was why Kurumi preferred rice.

And with the prongs facing downwards most of the silver was off the plate. Problem solved.

Ooooh fruit salad! Aurora took up her salad fork and began to eat slowly and carefully. Wouldn't do to be impolite at yet another an etiquette lesson, would it?

Following the Professor, Ellie used the specific eating utensils and cut her lasagna. This was so... precise. Ellie had never seen anyone actually do all this fancy stuff before, but... Oh well. It was for class, so she would do it.

Before Ellie took a bite, she raised her hand. She might know the answer to this one. For once. "It's rude to eat anything in big bites, so probably taking small bites at a time would be proper. Or maybe even cutting it in half if it's a larger piece?" Just her two knuts.

Well, apparently Alex had been doing it wrong--stuffing as much of the bread into your mouth as you possibly could was apparently NOT right. He rolled his eyes. He was never going to remember this stuff after the homework.

He raised his hand. "You eat it in small bites," he explained. "It's improper to stuff the whole thing in your mouth at once," he told her.

She was in love with strawberries, pineapple, peaches, wwatermelons, etc. Happily she took the a small amount of salad. She was about to pick up her dinner fork, or whatever you call it and use it tell her professor reminded them all to use their salad fork. Angelina than sat and at the amazing salad while listending to the professor talking to them. Raising her hand she said, "Professor wouldn't you set it on your bread plate?" Well thats what she did.

SPOILER!!: Professor

Angelina looked sadly down at her fruit salad, it was all gone. She loved it so much! Since she was done she placed her fork in the cup and waited for the next course, and listened to the Professor talking, she didn't want to miss anything.

Yum, lasanga! She loved that lasanga. She hardly even has it though, this just made her whole day amazing. She doesn't think anything can ruin her day after this Muggle Studies lesson!

She looked down at her lasanga and couldn't wait to eat it, but as professor said, don't eat to fast. This would be find though, she can enjoy the amazing lasanga, no matter how good it is.

Raising her hand she said, "Professor, I believe you would eat your bread in little pieces, and not in one big bit(s)."

Actually you're supposed to take a bit of the butter and scrape it off onto the edge of your bread plate and then proceed to break off little pieces as you go along to eat it." Yeah, it sounded a little complicated but it was the proper way to do things.

With that being said, Jezz took the first bite. It was so delicious. Almost tasted better than she had imagined it would. If she ate like this everyday it would make not only everyday a good day but it would make for one very happy and healthy Jezzabelle. She took another bite then a sip of her tea and followed it all up by lightly wiping her mouth. So good.

He picked up the his fork and the fish knife when the professor instructed them to use it, and took a small sample of the dish to taste. Hot, hot, hot! Eino almost blew on his food but he recalled that it was rude, so he just waited a few minutes for it to cool down. Meanwhile, he raised his hand to share a response. "I suppose bread should be eaten in small pieces, no? It can make you feel full very quickly if you eat too much, so you wouldn't have any more appetite for the rest of the meal." And it would be rude to just sit there and watch everyone eat.

She raised her hand now. "I believe you break the bread up into smaller pieces as it's not very polite to eat a big piece of bread all at once." And eat it with butter. Mmmm. She liked bread with butter.

She started on her lasagne now.

"Break slices of bread, rolls and muffins in half or in small pieces never larger than one bite. Butter each bite at a time. Small biscuits do not have to be broken. It is never appropriate to cut a roll with a knife." she said with a smile. "When the rolls are served in a basket, take one. Place the roll on the bread plate and then use your butter knife to grab a little slab of butter for your bread and place that on your bread plate a well. You should only butter the piece of bread that you are fixing to eat. You don't butter everything at once."

The professor waited for everyone to finish up the small lasagna dish and then she continued. "If you will place your fork on your plate when you are done..." she waited for the sounds of forks being placed on the current plate and then flicked her wand to take the current plate out and bring the main course plate in.

"Okay, it's now time for our Main Course." she flicked her wand and the plates were placed on the table and then baskets of rolls flew into the room and one landed on each table.

SPOILER!!: Main Course and Rolls

"Now when you are eating a steak or any type of meat that needs to be cut, the proper way to do it is to cut one piece at a time. You only want to cut what you are going to eat in one bit. Your slices should be little and bite sized..." she demonstrated at her table and it played on the screens for everyone to see.

"Everyone feel free to start eating the steak and vegetables...we are almost to our final course, dessert..." she said motioning for them to start eating.

"So what is the proper way to signal to waiters that you are done with your food?" she asked the students.

OOC: Remember to raise your hand before you answer. .And as always remember she is always watching you! Enjoy the steak and veggies...Dessert is next!!!!! Which means our dinner is almost over.
