Maybelle smiled as Everett had rambled. She found it cute.
"Well, I stopped two first years from killing each other." She said, and smiled. Then, she tried to make another rock skip, but again, it only made a splash and fell to the bottom. Playing with her necklace, a disturbing thought approached her mind, what if her and Everett were together? How would she tell Jake? She would have to give back the necklace and bracelets...and that would break Jake's heart, and make Maybelle feel horrible. But she couldn't decide between Jake or Everett.
"I've been learning how to play the guitar, I even bought one this summer." She said, trying to push the thoughts out of her mind.
Everett laughed, listening to her finish speaking before he spoke,
"Awesome. So is my title of best guitar player in danger? I need to know before hand so I can stop anything happening to it." He said, watching as she tried to skip another rock that failed.
"You do realise that you are meant to make them skip right?" He teased lightly, before grabbing a small rock and attempting a rock skip of his own, which he was proud to see skipped a few times before it stopped. He grinned at Maybelle.
"Do you need some help to become close to my amazing rock skipping skills?" He asked jokingly.
Everett was avoiding thinking about what they were really there to discuss. He had no idea what his feelings were for anything at all relevant to romance at that point. He knew Maybelle liked him, and he knew that she had a boyfriend already. He didn't know whether he thought of her as a friend or something more yet. Everett tried to shake away those thoughts and just concentrated on what they were doing now.
