His wince snapped her back into the moment. Had she really sounded that harsh? Raising an eyebrow, his stuttering made her want to smile. Was he embarrassed? Maybe he was one of those shy boys she keeps bumping into around here. If Muggle Studies isn't busy they should teach a confidence boost class. Might shape some of these boys up. "Okay.." She drew out for a moment. What was with him.
Getting a better look at the boy as he inched away, she noticed he was quite a looker, not that she was getting any ideas. He looked like a brooder, something that would never mix well with her. She had enough brood in her to last her a lifetime. Flicking away a strand of curled hair, she listened as he talked again. "Tis not my land so you may sit wherever you like." If it was she would probably banish everyone from being here. Well, except if she had rally meetings here. This would make a nice calming spot for all the hot tempers she meets with.
She fiddled with the cover corners of her book, biting a pouty plump lip. She suddenly had the urge to wonder what he was doing here. "What is your name?" So I can make sure not to run into you around here. "If you don't mind me asking." He shouldn't. It's just his name she wants. Lewis felt the girl's gaze on him, probably considering his apology. Was there really so much to consider?! He hadn't meant to be rude or anything...he was just trying to see what she was reading. Biting his lip he glanced over at her for a second again as she replied but didn't say anything else. What was she looking at anyway? His face fell into a frown as he averted his attention back to the lake in front of them.
Shifting slightly to get into a more comfortable seating position, Lewis started playing with a daisy in the grass next to him, not really expecting an answer from the girl. She probably wouldn't tell him to get lost - he wasn't distracting or anything - so assuming she was like most girls, she would probably just shrug or something. That was usually the reaction he got from other people in general. They didn't mind his presence per se but didn't exactly talk or interact with him in anyway either.
So consider him more than a little surprised when he got an answer after all. Not very enthusiastic or nice or anything but nonetheless an answer. Lewis glanced back at her with a small smile playing around his lips and his eyebrows slightly raised. "Thanks...I guess." Or something. Shaking his head a little, he then resumed to watch some of the ducks until all of a sudden he heard her speak to him again. Wow, he had thought she wanted peace and quiet for reading her book? "Lewis. My name's Lewis." He replied with a nod, running a hand through his blonde hair absently, his gaze back on her face without actually meeting her gaze. "What's yours then?" He deserved as much, didn't he? After all, she knew his name too. Not that he had any clue as to what he was going to do with that information but it seemed like the right thing to do at the moment. |
