"Now before we start I hope you have all familiarised yourselves with the class rules and I hope you all have your gloves with you. If not, please take this time to grab a pair from the stores cupboard," she said indicated the cupboard near the door opposite her.
She paused briefly to allow time for those students to get settled. "Now a few of you have asked about this ivy that is growing on the window panes... and for the record, they won't harm you, though they may attempt to wrap themselves around your ankles or your fingers should you allow them to." She gave a few of the leaves another gentle stroke as they reached out to her.
"Now before we move deeper into the greenhouse, does anybody have any idea as to why there is little light in here?"
Yeah. There
was very little light in here. If someone ran into her or stepped on her foot, she'd like hex them to next Saturday and back. Well, ...not
likely, but she'd at least consider it. Moving on... She raised her hand, figuring she may as well add her two knuts in.
"Well, some plants had weird sort of reactions to sunlight--some need lots of it, but some require very little. Like those toadstools you taught us about," she pointed out.
"They can only be found in dark, damp environments." She shrugged.
"So maybe that's what today's lesson is about--plants that react to light or the loss of it."
Or maybe a Devil's Snare was about to jump out and eat all the Puffers and Lions...
