Beezus bit her lip as she bowed her head, "I'm sorry Professor... I was scared to be honest..when I learned that you would be the new Head of the Gryffindor house and.." Without warning, her tears fell down so she immediately wiped them off with the back of her hand. "I'm sorry Professor.....Seren," there, just like she used to.

She knew that she was acting pathetic but at least right now she was able to be true in front of someone she deeply cared about.

Oh good grief! This was not exactly what she had expected. The poor girl was crying. Seren's heart sank into her stomach, her motherly instincts were urging her to hug the girl, but whether or not that was appropriate was another matter. She was a teacher, not a mother... there was a different.
Instead, she leant forward and pat the girls arm gently.
"Sshhhh... there is nothing for you to be scared about, and nothing for you to apologise for, everything's ok."

Using her free hand, she took up her wand and summoned her teapot, always full of fresh, warm, but not hot, peppermint tea. That would make Beatrice feel better right? No more tears?

SPOILER!!: Jezzabelle

She had only allowed Jezz be used for those who found her full name a mouthful. She wondered if this would be a good time to discuss her plants. That was one of the reasons she had come down.

"Well, I left without argument because it really isn't who I am." No need to mention in the future she will not be approaching the staff table. Well, now was a good time. "As I said at the feast though, I love plants and I'm really excited for the Herbology class. I actually have a garden and greenhouse at my house that I tend to," she sighed. It was hard being away from her plants even harder trusting her parents to take care of them. "I couldn't exactly leave all of them behind because some of them, like the two I have, require more than just the basics."

Jezz shifted them a little so that the Professor could see them better. In one pot was a multicolored rose bush. One was blue, another red, one purple, one black, a silver one, a brown one, and orange one and three pink ones. In another, there was a heart shaped bud that had yet to bloom in the three years she had it, but Jezz knew that when the time was right it was going to bloom into something amazing and even more magical.

"These were both given to me with strict care instructions. The roses are from a family friend who was big on Herbology as well, and the other was given to me by my grandfather right before he passed away...three years ago." They were her prized possessions. "The roses each smell of something different, my personal favorite being the brown one because it smells like chocolate." She looked down at them and smiled, "and the silver one is my second favorite because it smells of a cool winter night. AS for this one," Jezz said looking at the bud, " My grandfather said it will bloom when the time is right. I'm not sure what into yet but it'll be something amazing to see." And she couldn't wait.

"Then Jezzabelle it shall be," she replied grinning. Personally Seren thought Jezzabelle was nicer than Jezz, more feminine in a way.
Ah yes! a gardening enthsiast! this was rather good news, rather good news indeed. "That's brilliant, I look forward to having you in my classes... we can never have enough budding herbologists aorund." And it was nice that some of the students could understand and share her passion for magical (and mundane) plants.

Listening intently and gazing at the plants Jezzabelle had brought with her, she could hardly contain her excitement. "They're lovely specimens, I can see you're doing a fine job caring for them." And indeed a little tender love and care was always important in caring for plants, especially Amo-Securusena or the Lovabud.
"I assure you, when it's ready to bloom, you will be blown away, they are specacularly beautifful darlings. The trick is to give them as much love as you can, genuine love..."

SPOILER!!: Louisa

Refreshing was a weird word to use but Louisa liked the way that Bentley was up for responsibility rather than... running away from it. Like her mother would do. Hmph.

When the professor opened the box and started taking them out, smiling at them sincerely. A ring rang in Louisa's head. She was still their Bentley! And the T-shirt! SHE WAS GOING TO ATTEND MATCHES! Louisa's smile grew into a grin, "Oh professor! That's so great!" She caught herself from bouncing on her feet and tackling the beautiful woman. "I was afraid you wouldn't cheer for us anymore." And yes, Gryffindor matches were fine. With a chuckle, Lousia nodded, "Yeah, sure. That's understandable."

Taking few enthusiastic steps backward, Louisa asked way more cheerfully than before, "Professor? Do you think people can change? Even after they became... old?" It was totally irrelevant but the girl needed some reliable answer. From someone who lived longer than any of her friends. And wasn't an obnoxious adult. Bentley was the only candidate. She'd hear the answer and leave for classes. The professor probably had to head out too.

Well that seemed to settle things, how Louisa thought she wouldn't support Ravenclaw anymore was still beyond her.
"Oh heavens, I'll always support Ravenclaw, once an eagle always an eagle... on the inside at least." Admirring the pen, Seren slipped it toward her term planner sitting on ther corner of her desk. She usually preferred quills, but the pen had to be tested.

As the topic turned to changing, Seren narrowed her brows slightly. "Hhhmm.. I think it depends on the circumstances. There is always room to change, but noticable changes are usually the bi-product of some significant event in the persons life." Whether that event was tragic, traumatic or simply euphoric or spiritual... change was possible.
"Why do you ask?"

SPOILER!!: Alyssa

'I wonder where she went.' Then Alyssa spotted the pictures on the table and realized that she Professor Bentley had gone to visit Italy with Professor Hadley, her Hufflepuff Head of House.

"Good morning, Professor Bentley. I hope that you had an enjoyable summer." 'Better than mine that's for sure,'Alyssa thought to herself. But she wasn't here to talk about that. "I don't want to take up too much of your time since I know that you must be preparing for our first class, so I just wanted to give this to you." Alyssa lifted up the small basket that she was carrying. "While I was back home, we went to the Poppy Fields and I picked up some Golden Poppy seeds that I grew over the summer. Anyway, I brought back some of the saplings. I was thinking that maybe you could plant them in the greenhouse. I also brought back a stuffed toy dog for Caltex. I got a similar one for Professor Hadley's dog too....and here's one last thing I brought back, a box of peppermint tea bags. I noticed that you love brewing it because I always smell the smell of peppermint in the room. My Mom suggested that I bring you some when I was telling her about it. Anyway, I hope that you like it." Alyssa smiled handing over the basket to Professor Bentley and looking around for the cute puppy that she had played with last term.

'Now down to business, Lyssie.'Alyssa thought to herself. "Uh Professor while I'm here, I was wondering whether it would be okay for me to help take care of the Greenhouse again, just like I did last term. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and after you taught us how to grow the Puffapods last year, I was thinking whether you would teach me how to harvest them this term? I promise to be gentle with all the plants." 'Even the ones that bite back.' Alyssa thought to herself.

"I had a marvellous summer, I hope yours was just as enjoyable?" Seren missed being on holidays.. usually it didn't matter to her, the greenhouses were every bit the holiday she had ever really needed. But things just weren't the same knowing that Aron wasn't too far away, but still out of her reach.

"Oh what a lovely gesture, thank you Alyssa," she said taking the basket and checking out the goodies. The poppies were particularly pretty and they reminded her of him.. again. "They're beautiful, I'll make sure they get a nice spot in greenhouse three."
Seren watched as Caltex's ears perked up. How was it that dogs just knew when they had some business to involve themselves in. Of course he would appreciate the toy, sadly he let the geraniums get to his old one.

"You're more than welcome to help out as much as you like, it is always appreciated. As it so happens we'll be looking harvesting puffapod seeds int he second lesson, so you won't have to wait too much longer." Among other things of course.

OOC: Haha no, these geraniums have ALWAYS been in her office, they're her babies. The ones used for the final were the greenhouse ones.

SPOILER!!: Presley
QUOTE=Presley Black;10856036]Presley danced into the office, pausing to pet the adorable dog that she'd grown accostomed to. "Hey Cal," she grinned, scratching behing his ears. She flopped down into the familiar chair before being invited to sit, but this was not her fathers estate. It was Bentley's homey welcoming office. "Hi, professor!" she smiled cheerily. "I just wanted to stop in and say hello." Then remembering her manners, "I heard you get to be Head of the Lions, congratulations!" And she really did mean it. There weren't any hard feelings about it. It would be a fun and interesting experience for the Herbology professor.[/QUOTE]

Caltex let out a small yelp in greeting, his big bushy tail threatening to attack the fanged geraniums he had his back turned to. Seren gave him a look then pat the side of her leg so he'd move away from the playful plants.

"Well it's a pleasant surprise," she replied, pleased that Presley wasn't avoiding her like the plague, or breaking down and crying in front of her. Rather, the girls cheerful disposition was rather infectious, and soon Seren found it rather difficult to NOT smile.
"Thank you dear, it's a great honour. How were your holidays? Did you manage to talk to your father?"
Seren remembered the conversation they'd had not long before summer break... her heart went out to the girl, she was such a lovely dear, it was hard to imagine anyone not liking her let alone considering the fact that her father might disapprove of her.

SPOILER!!: Selina

Now that she was faced with her Head of House and Herbology Professor she could not even find the words to speak. So she did the only thing she could think of doing- she stiffly nodded and walked into Bentley's office.

It was no shock to Selina that her Herbology Professor and Head of House had a very stylish and modern office. It was very Bentley in so many ways. She sat down at one of the seats and picked at the sleeve of her robe. After sitting in unrest for about seven seconds she stood up from her seat and looked straight at Bentley, "Excuse me ma'am? I know that I may sound extremely stupid and I apologize for making this awkward but..." Where was the calm, cool and collected Selina now? She was hiding underneath this shell of nerves who desperately wanted to let her Head of House know that she appreciated the faith entrusted to her.

"Ma'am... you have no idea how humbled I am that you chose me to be the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain this term. I know that you had a lot of people to choose from but the fact that you picked me... I just... there are no words. I kept thinking of what I would say to you when I saw you and I had something all worked out... but now I can't think straight. So yeah, underneath all of this muddled mess I just wanted to say thanks a heap for picking me. I promise I will try not to let you down."

Seren wasn't sure what she found the most amusing, the fact that Selina seemed to ahve lost her voice, seemed to be rather nervous, or the fact that she found her voice again. At any rate, she couldn't help but think that somthig had to be done about this.
"Please call me Bentley, or professor... ma'am is far too strange," she said. Ma'am was something she had never gotten used to and it made her feel old.

It was nice to know that the selection hadn't gone to the girls head, and she was rather modest and clearly appreciative.
"Selina, you are very talented young witch, and your skill ont he pitch has not gone unnoticed. You deserve this, and I know I can trust you to lead the lions to victory. All I can ask is everyone do their best, have fun... and try not to get injured." Sure injuries were part of the game, but preferably not for her lions.

"I would actually like to thank you for taking up the position, I know you'll do the title justice."
