This man and his department where a very VERY large reason as to why they were standing here today sipping on delicious champagne.

"Mr. Bole," she chirped, waving her now empty glass. "I was hoping that I would run into you before the festivities were in full swing." She nodded her head the woman on his arm. She was just interrupting all sorts of tender moments between couples this evening now wasn't she. "Good evening to you as well. I seem to have completely forgotten my manners."

"Mrs. Kaufman. We're honoured to have you grace us with your presence." Van slowed and then stopped, doing his best to move out of the way of the influx of people, though generally the crowds tended to part around him. It was just that it wouldn't do to have someone accidentally walk into him or something.

"Allow me to introduce you to my wife." Hehe that was never going to get old. "Lilyan Bole." And yes, he looked pretty darned proud of himself.

So far nothing, but that didn't keep him from hoping. In fact, the main reason he was even here was just in support of Evander, and Greingoth even though he'd never really met the man. They'd won the Ministry back, and if that meant a party, so be it. At least he'd been able to go back to his flat finally, which made things a bit more relaxed. Sleeping at his desk all those months had taken a toll, but it was quickly getting better.

Of course, the likelihood that they'd have more espresso at an event like this was slim. He'd have to make do with whatever was available, and he gave Evander a nod as he picked up a glass of champagne. At least he'd know more people here, than the last event he'd gone to that had required formal dress. Granted, for the most part it was still going to be just coworkers that he knew, but that worked for him. Less small talk meant he could go over what he knew from the task that was still unfinished.
Dorian got a nod and a pleased smile in return. He looked like he was distracted. That man was always half in his own head, but Van approved of him regardless. Good type to have on one's side, and surprisingly good company, really.

Watching as Mr. Bossman walked in with his new arm candy wife. Pfft marriage...who had time for it. "Hello, sir," she said politely with a smile as she walked by them toward the champagne.

Picking up a glass she sighed and looked around until her eyes landed on the tall, quiet, albeit handsome sight of one of her coworkers. The one that DIDN'T want to act like a total git who knew everything and was pleasant to actually talk to. He didn't look like he wanted to be here either. That made two of them and that made him her new best friend for the night. She walked over to Dorian and glanced up at him before looking back at the crowd, "You look as happy as I feel being here, Dorian. Not one for balls or people in general?"

"Really Laurie, how many times do I need to tell you? Van is fine. Or Evander if you must." She got a quick smile but of course most of Van's attention went right on back to Lilyan.

You know, except for that inner MLE!Paranoid part that was subconsciously sweeping over everyone and everything.

...Was that? Heh.

She nudged Van lightly and inclined her head towards Armen Recard and his snazzy uniform. The look that she gave him said it all.

Lilyan Moretti Bole was AMUSED.

Lily was not in the least bit surprised when she heard someone calling out to Van, and in fact, many someone's saying hello as they passed. A few of them she'd recognized as MLE employees, one or two who had been at their wedding just a few months ago.

"Oh, good evening." She smiled at the woman, "Not a problem." This was a woman she had NOT met. Nice woman, though. Maybe Van knew her? Lily wondered briefly who she was, when her eyes caught sight of champagne. Ooooh. Yummy. She would be requiring some of that soon.

He was actually getting pretty GOOD at walking with this cane. The best part? It had a trophy of sorts inside. Gevrik's wand. Current prized possession second only to Lilyan. He turned to eye Recard for a moment and then smirked to himself. Once Alexander had a moment to spare away from all the congratulations and whatnot, he'd have to give the man a high five.

In front of Armen so that the man would know it was because of him.

"Lily, this is Abigail Kaufman, Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation for the American Ministry of Magic." So, Gina's counterpart. "We've been in communication for some time regarding Ministry concerns." It was much better to speak in person than via a fireplace though.
