THAT was a beautiful bird? It looked like it could attack anyone at the moment, since it seemed not to be enjoying its cage very much. How could that be any beautiful?

It probably bit people. Kaika's owl did. And it was ALSO white.

Compartments? Empty ones? "I saw a few empty ones at the back...," he said, eyes on the bird. The farthest that thing was away from him, the better.
