~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ At least, she was as she always was. Lecturing. Bossy. Motherly. Passionate. And gorgeous. He was half a second away from using that apparition spell. He'd always been a runner; why should now be any different?
Answer: because she had stopped running. She had somehow learned to accept, move on, and create. Which was beautiful and wonderful and he was happy for her, except that it was without him. And to keep from insulting her...partner, Nickolas refrained from making any mention of 'new black hearted folks'. He simply gave a grunt about the color and the owls, turning his eyes away back down the street. "Don't care if I don't have to fear owls, I just don't like them."
Like people. Oh so much like people.
His eyes slipped back to her, quiet and distant as she pushed his arm. Normally, he would return the gesture in some sort of kind, but that didn't seem his place anymore. "I've been living, as I always do." He gave an unconcerned shrug and allowed himself to spare her a quick glance over. "I'm glad to see you well, and happy." It was all he had come to check on anyways. Maybe now, he could leave.
