Still, she somehow managed to reached her arm out far enough to grab the edge of Selina's robes before she got away.
"Why would you say something like that?" Kurumi asked, hurt clearly in her violet eyes. "Selina...this hasn't been easy on me. I would like to help the team, but if I can't put my full effort into Quidditch wouldn't that be letting the team down more? I can't do things half-heartily, you know that. I would be doing a disservice to you and the team."
Kurumi found a bit more strength now and pushed herself up so that she was sitting up now. "Why are you so upset about this?"
"Because its our thing, Quidditch. It's been our thing for two terms now. I don't like when things change. Alright? I don't like at all.". She stepped back and looked at Kurumi. Perhaps she was being a tad dramatic, but Selina was a creature of consistency. She liked to keep things in their little box and never let them run away with themselves. She was who she was, there were constants. For example, Selina could not sing, that never changed, Selina was awful at potions, that beverages changed, Selina was fiery and opinionated, that never changed, Selina was a seer, and as much as she wanted to change it... That never changed. So when things changed it ruffled her feathers. And now as she got older a lot of things were changing. People, situations, friends...
Part of the reason she hated to be serious at any given moment was that serious conversation tended to lead to change. Wasn't that why she avoided Gideon when he tried to bring up the issue of their relationship before they had gotten together? Wasn't that why she pretended Danny dis not exist most days? She was always running from change. As slight as Kurumi was changing things... It was still change.
"Look, just don't. Its our thing. Don't change the good thing, Kurumi... Please."
A creature of habit, that was all she was.
