"Ultimately this list contains the essential characteristics of each of the numbers zero through nine. As such, what might this indicate for a combination of numbers such as 47?" Fina asked. Nice random, two digit number.
Keefer was lost. He was pretty good at Muggle math, but this was way different. He never really understood Arithmancy, and this Numerology business didn't seem any easier. Well, it could just be the characteristics of 4 and the characteristics of 7, but that seems too obvious. No, Keefer liked to think outside of the box, and that idea was definitely in a tiny little box. Lid closed.

Adding the 4 and the 7? That could get me somewhere. Again, not too creative. Then something else came to him. Though he was excited about his idea, he tentatively raised his hand. This was still not a class he was good in.

"Professor, it looks to me like you listed the properties for ten digits. So those act as the core basis of our interpretation, right? Maybe with two- or three-digit numbers, you have to divide them by 10 and see what's left over! So, like with 47, if you divide it by 10 you get 4 with 7 left over. So then 47 would share the core characteristics with 7." He quickly looked up at the board. "Analysis, research, solitude, wisdom, spiritual focus, investigative, mysticism, and magic!" he finished, reading off the board.

He felt confident that he had made a good contribution to the class discussion, even if he was way off.
