I'm Professor Hadley!" In case they didn't know.
"Today's lesson will be divided in two main parts. The first, some of you might find to be slightly boring or tedious, but it never hurts to refresh ones memory on certain aspects. So just bear with me and your classmates who are new to the subject." She paused. "So new Arithmancy students, who can tell me what is numerology? And older students, please, if you will, clarify the difference between the terms Arithmancy and Numerology? How do these terms relate and intertwine with one another?"
Elise squirmed akwardly in her seat. Arithmancy was confusing already!
"Err... I beilieve it's a connection between numbers aspects of life. It used to be considered a branch of mathematics, but I don't think it is now." she said.
Then, she lowered her hand, an odd feeling that she'd just said something wrong. Nevermind...
She then raised her hand for the next question.
"The order of operations would be PEMDAS. Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction." Quote:

Using a mnemonic. As August here mentioned, the order of operations can be summed up using the mnemonic, PEMDAS. Which stands for, Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication & Division, Addition & Subtraction. The classic muggle phrase for this, which some of you might be familiar with is 'Please excuse my dear Aunt Sally.'" Hadley frowned slightly.
"I don't know about you, but I don't have an Aunt Sally. So what I want you to do is create your own phrase. Wizardfy it. Make it personal to you. Something that you can remember when we get to calculating numbers."
ooc: create your own phrase for the mnemonic, PEDMAS. Be creative. Have fun with it. Jess is going to sleep, to allow others in different timezones to partake in the lesson, so you have probably about 8-9 hours to work on this, before we progress . . . =)
PEMDAS?! For Parenthesis, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. Nodnod. Write it down.
P=Parenthesis =Pygmy Puffs
E=Exponents =Eat
M=Multiplication =Muffins
D=Division =Donuts
A=Addition =And
S=Subtraction =Sugarpuffs
Nodding at her parchment. She raised her hand.
"Pygmypuffs Eat Muffins Donuts And Sugarpuffs."
