Violet carefully laid out the three pieces of sparkling, shiny silverware that she had polished so laboriously in Charms class. This was just what she needed to complete the effect. She would use them for her birthday celebration, then clean them again and leave them in the Hall when she left.

"Yeah, my birthday is October 13th. I don't usually do much for birthdays, even at home, but I figured a girl doesn't turn twelve every day. Would you like some?" she continued, politely, hoping the other girl had her own silverware, because Violet had only the three pieces from Charms class.
