Finally they were there, in fron the Headmaster office, but to Theodore's dismay the part of his plan where everything fitted into place never happened. Instead he was left to evesdrop the conversation but he didn't understand a thing from sucha distance...
"...indeed, for that's eactly my intention," it was Dumbledore's voice, but after that the voices started to be difficult to disern from one another.
Good, good... never mind, kids could complicate it... which worries me... Only the parents as my responsibility.... Matter not... Dead Eaters, should we think they did it? Yet... what about the friends? I'd understood they planned it.... Can ask you to... stop until knowing more.... can't give more details.
And then the booming voice of an exasperated Fudge gave out, "Do you think he is still at Hogwarts! Ridiculous!"
The statue of the gargoyle moved and they disappeared inside the office. Theo couldn't hear no more.
"Let's talk inside my office, will you agree, Cornelius?" Dumbledore invited him inside.
Fudge was besides himself, "We have Aurors check all of the zone, starting with the Forbidden Forest, what makes you think you can be more effective than all of them? Hm! Never before had head such an egocentric speech in my life."
Fudge made a characteristic nervous laughing kind of giggle.
"Of course," Dumbledore continued, "it would take more than a couple of Aurors to find things hiden in this castle which were recently discovered. I wouldn't pressume to disrespect hte hard work they put into their job but nonetheless is good to have all of us attentive to the many possibilities - Ah, Miss Melantha, I see you have joined us. I wasn't expecting you so early."
Fudge had paralized to the sight of the lady and seemed to be already looking from a figure to the other as if expecting an explanation or a plan. The girl seemed to have heard some of the conversation.
"- however you have come on a rather bad timing," Dumbledore said warmly, expecting Tinny's disappointment, "As you see I had an appointment with Minister Fudge prior to ours so I must please ask you to allow me to postpone. I'm sure you could use with some sleep before class and we can meet later if you agree."
Dumbledore smiled, eyes twinking, knowing it would take a little more to convince this particular young girl. He had to attend some important matters and fast.
