Has the kid not been paying attention AT ALL this lesson? "Fifteen points from you for your apparent lack of focus and memory!" Goldfish probably had a better memory than this kid. "Ornithomancy was the topic in the classroom and still is the topic now."

Um what? "Ten points from you for your carefree chatting." Seriously? Just because they were moving places didn't mean they could just talk whenever they felt like it.

Right. NOW he can get started with the second part of the lesson.

"So as we learned some of the flight patterns of birds and their meanings, part two is to show you more about how Ornithomancy is done." Because believe it not, having your head tilted back and you gazing upward was not really practical. "I have some shallow bowls. If you need more, one of the older students competent in charm work can use the duplicating charm. You'll also need about 5-10 medium sized stones. And water, which you could use your wands for or get from the lake..." the latter was what he had to do.

"Lay your stones carefully around the edge of the bowl and then fill up the middle with water." Thereos glanced around to make sure they understood. "If you wish, you may also do this on the ground, with no bowl, but you'll need to stack the stones higher to add more water, so it doesn't all seep into the ground."

"It is a matter of perspective... Each of us, may see different things in the water, depending on the angle you're looking at it, yes." Thereos comment to the young one. Very much the heart of Divination . . . Perspectives, that is. "But that second thing you described, the generic term, is what I was hoping for. Reflections."

"Directly into it, yes, your own reflection." But how would that help them study flight patterns?

SPOILER!!: Reflection answers!

"You all, are most correct." Well the first two more than the third, but he was still right. "Reflections of the sky. In particular, what we would be looking for is reflections cast from the birds, which if you look at it during the right time, from the right angle, you should see the water form a current in the flight pattern of that bird." It was an art really.

"I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't see that flight pattern today, but at some point over the next week or two, you likely will." Thereos explained. "Setting up your ... looking glass at various times of the day, will increase your likelihood. And depending on which flight pattern you see, might say something about the week you will have ... or something that might happen in the near future."

Was the class still with him or had he lost them? "Any questions?" Because he was open to them, in majority of cases.

"The stones? They have two main purposes..."

But oh look; another Slytherin asked that same question about the stones. Along with a million other questions.

"The stones are used for both for decoration and to add something of solidity as a barrier against the water's reflection. The solid, opaqueness of the stone helps to create a more accurate viewing of the pattern." Thereos nodded. "Which is also why a regular mirror doesn't do justice. Since it's not simply all about reflections, but also currents too. Ripples. From the flight of the bird. If there are clouds in the sky, then you might not get an accurate reading, if one at all."

That was all of them, right?

Gideon stopped with the rest of the class once it seemed like they had reached their intended destination. He inwardly winced as more points were lost, turning his attention to listening to Thereos as he explained what the next part of the class would entail. Retrieving a bowl, he set it up at one age of the gathered students before gathering several stones and adding them to the edge of the bowl as instructed.

"Aquamenti..." he cast with his wand filling the bowl to the correct point and then turning his attention back up front as he returned his wand to his pocket. Gideon listened to the answered his fellow classmates gave, remaining quiet as his thoughts were mostly given before he could answer. Retrieving his notes from his bag, he added a few from what was being said and shook his head as Thereos asked for questions.
