Right. NOW he can get started with the second part of the lesson.
"So as we learned some of the flight patterns of birds and their meanings, part two is to show you more about how Ornithomancy is done." Because believe it not, having your head tilted back and you gazing upward was not really practical. "I have some shallow bowls. If you need more, one of the older students competent in charm work can use the duplicating charm. You'll also need about 5-10 medium sized stones. And water, which you could use your wands for or get from the lake..." the latter was what he had to do.
"Lay your stones carefully around the edge of the bowl and then fill up the middle with water." Thereos glanced around to make sure they understood. "If you wish, you may also do this on the ground, with no bowl, but you'll need to stack the stones higher to add more water, so it doesn't all seep into the ground."
Penny had followed Thereos outside, this was such an unusual thing to happen in Divination - normally they would have been up in the stuffy tower.... This was definitely a lovely change....
Penny picked up a bowl and scooped up some water from the lake, then placed ten stones around the edge.... Listening carefully to what Thereos said...

Relaxing his mind a bit before speaking, he nodded. "Right then. So you're almost ready. You have your bowl of water. When you look into water, there are good chances that you will see what exactly?"
ooc: if you didn't get to do the first activity, feel free to do it later and add it onto the current stuff. The lesson will remain open for [about] another 12 hours to allow you to RP the activity =)
Penny thought about she would see in the water reflections,
"Sir I think that we would probably see the sky and clouds and of course birds..."
She really didn't know what else she would see... Of course she would see herself, but Penny didn't think that was what Thereos meant.

Since it's not simply all about reflections, but also currents too. Ripples. From the flight of the bird. If there are clouds in the sky, then you might not get an accurate reading, if one at all."
That was all of them, right?
Penny looked into her bowl and tried to see what was reflected in the water... She didn't actually see much, apart from the clouds and blue/grey sky... Unfortunately, being November, there wasn't many birds in the sky to be reflected in the water - But she was definitely going to try.
