Ashley still didn't trust himself to use that spell. He'd just been dying to try it since everyone else was doing it, and it seemed easy and effective. Besides, he had a wand. Why should he be tackling these things by hand?
That didn't mean he was going to go around using it more often. He still felt like he should practice more with it first, and he definitely still didn't feel like it would be a good idea to use it too close to people. Maybe the older kids had that kind of control, but he didn't want to be the first one to send a classmate to the hospital wing.

"Alright!" he said with a nod, wand ready anyway. It was still good for physical combat as well. And just that quickly, it was time for some action! Pixie darting up from wherever it had been hiding, Ashley swung his wand at it, which resulted in it just clinging onto his hand and trying to bite through his glove. At least that meant it wasn't bothering anyone else.
And he had gloves on.
This one wasn't going to be fun either, was it? Giving the pixie one of those completely disappointed frowns, he pulled it free and threw it as hard as he could. Sure, it could fly, so that probably wouldn't hurt it, but by the time it found its way back, hopefully Eris would be done. He kept an eye out for it anyway, and any others that may pop up.
