“They are primarily used in potions- despite their general inedibility and poisonousness. And are frequently used in healing potions. Some varieties have also been known to be used as core ingredients in wizarding confectionary.” Hence why some are indeed edible.

Standing to the side so that some of the students could have a better view of the toadstools before them, Seren turned her head and gave them a fond look. Precious little toadstools they were. With such an amazing reddish brown cap, and white stem... stunning.

Right next question... to keep these students were on their toes.

“Who can identify this type of toadstool for me?”
Jez raised her hand. "These toadstools might be Leaping Toadstools, but since they seem relatively quiet and still, they are probably Biting Toadstools, which have reddish brown caps and slim white stems similar to these. The Biting Toadstool has big teeth under the cap which lash out at prey or predator, although these teeth are not particularly dangerous to humans - not fatal, anyway. The Biting Toadstool is bigger that the Leaping Toadstool, but they do share characteristics." Jez was really enjoying herself here.
