With another flick of her wand, answers appeared beneath the question on the board. The smart ones would copy these down. She wasn’t about to baby them into doing it. It was their responsibility.

What is a toadstool?
- Similar to that of a mushroom
- Usually inedible
- Usually poisonous – though not always
- They can be either magical or mundane
- They come in various colours and sizes but are usually characterised by an umbrella shaped cap and a thick stem
- Used in potions – frequently healing potions
- Frequently mentioned in muggle folklore as being magical and are often depicted as being a decorated seat for toads
- Often attract the company of magical beasts such as pixies and fairies.
Allowing the students to mull this information over for a minute, Seren glanced behind her at their special guests... they would get to that soon.
“So now that you’re all aware of what a toadstool is—being a fungus or a mushroom which is defined firstly by its umbrella shaped cap and thick stem, it is usually considered to be poisonous and thus inedible, but there are a few exceptions to the rule. This is not to say there aren’t other dangers or cautions to be aware of.” She let them process this before moving on.
“Though there are magical and mundane versions of toadstools, the magical variety have the inexplicable ability to lure in magical beasts, particularly pixies, fairies and doxy’s.” “They are primarily used in potions- despite their general inedibility and poisonousness. And are frequently used in healing potions. Some varieties have also been known to be used as core ingredients in wizarding confectionary.” Hence why some are indeed edible.
Standing to the side so that some of the students could have a better view of the toadstools before them, Seren turned her head and gave them a fond look. Precious little toadstools they were. With such an amazing reddish brown cap, and white stem... stunning.
Right next question... to keep these students were on their toes.
“Who can identify this type of toadstool for me?” OOC: I'm off to bed... tis late. Though I am not in the classroom Bentley is. So NO chatting etc.... I'll reply when I wake up, approx 8-9 hours from the time of this post. Thanks! Tori stared up at the board and squinted at the notes. Ugh. Was she supposed to write those down? She didn't normally take notes but.... since this WAS her favorite subject... the ginger girl sighed deeply and started jotting down whatever was on the board.
While she was writing the notes, she leaned around the professor to get a better look at the toadstool. Um. Hum. What kind of toadstool WAS that? Tori quickly flipped through her book and then raised her hand.
"Is it....um...in the genus of
Amanita, professor?" That was a......guess.
