And her father had left her mom when she was 3, but she wasn't really going to mope about that. She was too young to remember.
Not homesickness then. Presley glanced at the picture of a woman hugging Elise, Presley smiled. She had pictures like that of her when she was little. The smile quickly faded though when Elise mentioned that her mum was dead. And just recently too.
"I'm so sorry," she offered her condolences.
"I know this doesn't really help right now, but I can promise you, it gets easier. It won't ever hurt any less, but you'll learn to live around it. Does that make any sense at all?" It hadn't to Presley, when her grams had said something similar, but now she understood. The words all made sense when you no longer needed them.
