But she could see why Alfie didn't think it fit. "Alfiana" sounded really formal and fancy and not the sort of name you'd use on a daily basis, especially among friends and fellow students. "Alfie" sounded more friendly and approachable. At least that was how Vashti saw it. "Yeah, I can see what you mean," she said with a nod. Then she shrugged. "Yeah, I guess it is." She'd never yet met anyone who shared her name, so she supposed it was unique. She smiled. "Thanks though."
"Well, thanks," Alfie said with a soft chuckle as Vashti mentioned that her full name was really pretty, a comment that she herself could see the logic in. She liked the name Alfiana, she could see the pretty in it, but it was too formal and it just didn't seem to really fit her. Alfie was just so much more...friendly. And Alfie looked like an Alfie, not an Alfiana.
"You're welcome," Alfie replied with a flash of a warm smile as Vashti thanked her for her compiments about her name. But it was true, the blonde Ravenclaw had never met anyone named Vashti and she immediately liked the name. "I don't know why I've never actually spoken with you, you've been in a lot of my classes," Alfie mentioned with a soft smile, absentmindedly moving some of her long light blonde hair out of her large blue eyes. "I guess we just never crossed direct paths."
