Or maybe it was just because his whole name had just been said in front of the entire school, so wouldn't matter now anyway. Of course, the fact that he still had to introduce himself to people did mean that they hadn't heard, or if they had, they didn't think on it long enough to remember that it was him, which meant that he could tell people his name was Bubble Honeypots if he wanted to, and no one would be any wiser. Hm. It was something to think about.
Later, though. Right now he was talking, and not messing it up as badly as he had been doing all day. He decided it was best to focus on keeping that up instead of letting his mind wander off on random subjects.
"You could just make something up if you wanted to," he did mention. "I mean, lots of people have nicknames that don't have anything to do with their names. My mother knows someone called Sugar, but her real name is Chloe." He had always wondered about that, but not quite enough to care to ask. He didn't like Sugar much. She always pinched his cheeks and sent him off to play, like he was five.
"Anyway, you really hid your mother's wand?" There wasn't anything strange that he'd noticed. He'd had friends just because his parents' friends had children they would bring over, but if he'd had any siblings, he could imagine he might have played with them as well. More interesting about this tale was the subject about which he'd asked. That would have been yet another thing to set a heart attack off in his mother. "What did she do? Mine might have tossed me out right away," he said with a small laugh.
Sugar? Well that was sure odd...being named after something you pour in vast amounts into a cup of tea, well...maybe it was just her when it came to the vast amounts.
"Chloe is pretty name" Eris mused, "Sugar....hmm...why don't I just call myself Pumpkin Juice then?" she gave a boyish chuckle at the idea, even briefly considering it as she swayed the goblet filled with the same liquid in her hand. Reverting back to the conversation as he brought up her little fun with her mother's wand, Eris raised her eyebrows with interest.
"Ooo she was
furious" Eris grinned, this particular dare not as anticlimactic as some have been. And who could resist a happy ending to tell?
"Sadly for my poor mum...she was better at wordless magic that wandless magic." Eris began with a bit of post sympathy for the parental unit. "I got to hear her practically shrieking accio repeatedly....only it wasn't really
shrieking, she has this way of shouting in frustration and determination without raising her voice higher than it usually goes..." Eris paused as she realized she was rambling.
"Anywho, I was a bit of a git...at seven mind you...and seemed to be perfectly content watching her destroy the house....I mean really...she was so lit up she didn't even bother to ask the house elves to retrieve it." Eris gave a laugh deciding to cut to the chase.
"But my kid brother...the one who
asked me to do it....got lonesome without mummie's attention and ratted me out." Eris stopped and gave a low whistle. "Boy...if I was just a few years older, I sure would have gotten the beating of my life........the look of a grim in her eyes, that woman.......so I had to go retrieve it..." she grinned for a moment in memory, "You know those little cherub rock things that people have near their fountains? Well...lets just say he was
holding it....and my mother was more than displeased. Got my toy broom snapped and everything." Eris finished with a nod.
"Is your mum strict too?" she added, wondering if most Wizarding families were alike in habits.
