Adam gave Paulie a little smile. "I wouldn't have...honestly I had no idea what house I was going to be in, so this came as somewhat of a surprise." But Adam could tell by the other people that had been sitting down at the table that they were definitely going to be his kind of crowd. Friendly, not too crazy...except for one girl who had a look to kill. Perhaps if Adam thought that it would help she would ask the girl if she was alright, but he decided that maybe she just wanted to be left alone. "Aww...bummer," Adam said with another little laugh. He was taking a sip of water when Paulie mentioned finding a frog in his living room. Adam couldn't stop his eyebrows from going up surprise. "Well...isn't that an interesting thing to find in your living room." Adam supposed there were worse things one could stumble upon...but still...a toad was rather odd. "I actually bought a puppy," Adam said with a little smirk as he set his goblet down. "I'll introduce him to you once we get up to the common rooms...and don't worry, he doesn't smell." Adam made sure to give JB a bath right before they left for the train...after all no one would appreciate him having a pet if the pet smelled as awful as the pen at the wizarding carnival had.
Adam gave Paulie a little smirk at the comment about the neighborhood moving. "So far they're still at the same house, but we'll see when it's time to go home for a break." Of course, Adam's parents hadn't even been there to say goodbye, so he wasn't even sure if they knew when the next time he was returning was going to be. Quote:

For some reason, his name reminded her with that of a bird, but that would cause yet another silly first impression that she really didn't need nor want.
"Yeah, ditto," Paulie smiled at the prefect. He wasn't really sure if people said 'ditto' anymore, but he hoped Kurumi knew what it meant. "Anyway, I'm sure I'll be seeing you around soon." And with that, he sort of closed the conversation. Prefect Kurumi had a ton of people talking to her and so forth, so he let her focus on them; certainly there would be plenty of opportunities to chat with her later on this term.
"Dude, same! I had no clue, and I really never thought of 'brave' or 'noble' being two salient characteristics of mine.." Paulie scratched his head and began to wonder. Maybe he'd gotten Gryffindor because Tori had recently deemed him a lemonade knight..? He honestly did consider this theory because he had no idea how that magic hat worked. He turned to Adam again. "Hmm, I think I would have predicted Gryffindor for you, though."
Yes indeed, a frog was quite an interesting thing to find in your living room. "Yep. I almost brought him here, as a pet, but then I figured that I would forget to feed a thing like that and he'd probably end up dying." Thus, it was back into the forest for toady. Adam went on to tell him that he had gotten a puppy, and Paulie perked up some more. "A puppy? That's so cool - what kind? I hadn't realized that Hogwarts allowed dogs here." A faint smirk crept onto his face as the other Gryffindor made sure to mention that the canine did not smell. Just wait 'till it was pouring outside, and good old Spot needed to go to the loo - then Adam's comment on that might be a tad different. "Definitely - you can probably introduce me tonight," 'Cause Paulie figured the common room would be buzzing with people anyway, what with no homework yet.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that they haven't picked up and moved just yet. But you'll have to let me know come Christmas break." And if Adam was telling the truth about all that gypsy-traveling, which Paulie of course figured he was, then the boy's parents may very well have moved again by winter break.
