MJ was perched right at the end of the table, trying to keep out of sight. Usually, she could completely hide her insecurities and nerves, but she'd been seriously taken control of by it this time. She'd noticed so many people introducing themselves in the First Year end of the table. She spotted Annabeth and Harvey from the train compartment. She'd heard Jezebel and Beezus talking and thought they sounded like girls she could really get on with. Jezebel sounded just like her with books! And both had some family issues too, like MJ. She thought that Aurora seemed nice too, and Gaby and Erin, who seemed to know each other. And Valeria and Jayden.
She'd also seen a Prefect, who she'd heard called Ivory. She was glad she knew who a prefect was, as she was so scared that she wouldn't know who to ask for help from!
And she'd caught a brief glimpse of Ravenclaw's Quidditch Captain and what looked like the beginnings of a romance between two Purebloods who hated the state of the silverware.
MJ liked that no one had noticed her sneak on to the end of the table; and that they were busy chatting when she was Sorted. She'd had time to listen to peoples' names and get used to the table.
There were so many people, she didn't know who to talk to first!! She took a deep breath and made a wild grab at talking to the girl next to her, who also wasn't chatting with anyone, although she'd heard her say her name was Temperance. "Hey, I'm MJ! Oh wow, that's the Hogwarts Express!! You're really talented!!" As usual, MJ came across as quite confident. Usually she preferred it that way - that no one could see her fear or nerves; but just sometimes, she wished that someone would spot it.
