38. Patronus

Fletcher learned how to make a proper patronus at school, as most wizards do. At first, he didn’t think much of the charm. When was he ever going to need the floating protection of a silver dragon?

Although dragons were also his worst fear, the patronus version never scared Fletcher. It was too pretty the way its scales shone like the reflection of the moon on a rippling lake. And when he had to use it to scare off a dementor, the dragon shot out a long flame of real silver smoke.

Guess patronuses were pretty handy things after all!
