So, without answering her 'huh?', he stepped over her trunk (with a bit of difficulty, since he had to squeeze through the door, too) and sat down on the opposite side of the compartment, facing her. "I wanted to know if you were okay at the feast last night? You seemed a little... put-out."
Ahem. There was more to discuss, though. "And I wanted to tell you that if you want to call me at home... I'll only be there for a little bit. Like maybe a week, tops." Hopefully not even a week, if things worked out the way he wanted. "But I can still owl you, of course. If you want to talk." He smiled.
Her unsteady eyes followed him as he moved through the obstacle she'd put in front of the door and then as he sat down in front of her. Then he talked. And if she had any left water in her body, she'd start crying. Just like that. Maybe last night's secret mourning session under the blanket did the trick, though, because her eyes were as dry as the desert. Her face blank. But, no, the feeling in her stomach had moved to her chest and rising...
...not lack of food. "
I...er.. you saw me?!" She squeaked, in disbelief! For starters, she didn't see him looking at her! He hadn't even come to talk to her!! And secondly, why in Merline's precious Beard would he NOT ask her to join him and his so-called friend if he saw her?!!!
Not that they agreed to meet or anything but... she thought he would do that.
And.. wait, what? "
What? Whe-"re are you going? But she caught herself and bit her lower lip for a second before leaning her back against the seat and closing her eyes. She was starting to get dizzy again from the smooth movement of the train, and she didn't want to look into his eyes when he talked. She might lose every bit of anger she'd felt that day, if she did. "
Whatever. Just.." LEAVE ME ALONE! "
..I need to get something to eat," and she wasn't begging for food. She was begging for solitude..
