Rafe didn't mind being open about his life these days, be he didn't know how Mia would feel about it since they've barely known each other. "I used to be more carefree, but I guess with age I've gotten more mature." He definitely felt like an adult, but at the same time he wanted to still be a kid.
"I've heard good things about Africa, the wizarding community is very different from what you would expect, but their magic is very powerful too." He met a few wizards from Africa and really enjoyed their company. "I'm sure you and destiny will have many things to discover! There was a lot to see...the Pyramids in Egypt to Mt. Kilimanjaro to Robben Island! And then there's the animals that are rather beautiful in their own way too." The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to go there himself. But, that would have to wait until another summer.
Rafe laughed. "I've heard of vegetarians, but never thought I would meet one." He tried to think of what she could eat...he never really included vegetables in his meals unless he had to. "I guess there's Mamaliguta cu ciuperci, it's polenta with mushrooms, or perhaps you'd like Papanasi cu brânza, also known as cream cheese dumplings...that's if you eat dairy...I think some of you don't eat that?" Vegetarians confused Rafe. He understood the whole 'not wanting to hurt animals,' but they just tasted so good. "Sorry, I'm not trying to insult your way of life or anything, but I'm..." he took in a deep breath, "I'm half-werewolf, so meat is just part of the everyday diet!" He tried to make the situation lighter. He didn't know why he told her what he was, but he felt more and more comfortable with accepting what he was.
Rafe chuckled with her. Wow, just one more term and he would say good-bye to Hogwarts. It was hard to believe.
Ohhhh.
Tapping the side of the bottle with her finger, Mia shrugged her shoulders.
"That's the kind of thing that you expect from an ex though. Eight out of ten relationships end in animosity." She didn't mind that he was opening up to her about his life. She was used to it by now. People seemed to find her easy to talk to.
"I guess you must have loved her a lot. I know that if I was to break up with my boyfriend, I would find it hard to let go also." But that was never going to happen. She hoped.
"Just because you have grown up doesn't mean you can't still be carefree. You just have to decide when the situation requires you to be serious." Sometimes she needed to take her own advice. It was funny that she could help so many people with their problems and yet when it came to her own, she seemed to ignore herself.
From the way Rafe was talking, she and Destiny were going to have one awesome adventure and Mia could feel herself getting excited until he mentioned the animals.
"That's probably why Destiny is so obsessed with them. She wants to take a giraffe home." She shook her head thinking of the arguments they'd had over that.
Mia couldn't help but laugh.
"I do eat dairy. It's vegan's who don't eat that. I don't like eating meat because animals have to be killed." She shrugged her shoulders. Not many people did get it. Even Nik at first couldn't understand why she wouldn't eat meat but he understood it now and even refuses to eat meat while she was around. She wondered if he gorges himself when she goes back to school?
She waved off his apology but what he said next almost had her dropping her bottle of butterbeer. Mia certainly had not been expecting that and she couldn't help but stare at Rafe for a moment before shaking herself.
"Sorry I didn't mean...half-werewolf...that's...wow!" She was at a loss for words and that rarely ever happened to her.
"So...so...how does that work exactly?"
