Still gazing anywhere but directly at Legend or Professor Hadley, the pinkish blush to her cheeks still there, Katie had felt Legend move a little bit at her side but what she hadn't expected was to feel his hand touch hers. Without so much as a thought, she'd turned her head back to look at him, glancing down at his hand. Although she felt uncertain about it after.. what just happened, Katie knew he didn't have to offer his hand, and that he wouldn't have unless he wanted to. And though she still didn't know why he had changed his mind, she carefully slipped her hand into his, almost shyly.
It was sort of funny how after all these years, despite all the arguing and fighting and worse drama involved, Legend still.. seemed to know. Like when they were kids, and Monique had been in the hospital. She had been so scared. Or just a couple of years back, the situation with Hunter that day. Whether or not he actually knew, Katie wasn't sure but it brought a small smile to her lips anyway. "Yeah.. I guess you're right," she murmured, giving his hand a little squeeze. "But that does sound a bit scary. Living with them? They've probably destroyed my room." Lissy would LOVE that one, since it was her room too.
About those distractions? Be careful (and VERY specific) what you wish for was no joking matter, Katie quickly realized as Neptune Bott appeared at the table. Well, this.. was certainly turning out a bit awkward. Where was MAT? Forget him pointing things out, she wanted him there. Now, would be a good time. Yeah. Dark eyes glancing back toward the Great Hall doors for any sign of the Sulos boy or any of the others as Neptune passed behind them, they flickered toward her briefly just in time to catch her offered smile and return a quick, half-hearted one.
Thankfully, before Katie could react or really be bothered by the Bott's shrieking, an arm had wrapped around her out of nowhere. Tensing at first out of surprise, she relaxed almost as soon, her hand that wasn't holding Legend's going up to touch Lando's arm in a way of returning the greeting before the boy had taken his seat on Legend's other side.
And he looked very happy, for a boy who was about to lose two of his best friends from school. Leaning forward a bit to see him over Legend, Katie's dark eyes fixed on him curiously, her small smile still there as she simply asked, "What did you do?" Katie knew her boys well. He had done something.
