He tightened his grip, feeling the cool metal digging into his skin. Was she trying to take it back? Would she take it back forever? Just like Hogwarts, would he never see both again?
Lifting his other hand, he wrapped it around Katie's wrist and tugged on it and pulling it away but not before giving it a small squeeze. "Please...stop." His voice was light and steady but inside he was freaking out. He didn't want his pendent taken away, he didn't want to leave Hogwarts. He didn't want any of it.
But of course...Legend wasn't going to tell anyone that. He was going to act strong. Like a man. Because that was the Legend people were used to. He kept his hand, on top of Katie's in face she would try again.
This time when he turned to face Hadley again his face was not so smug. It was simple. More like sad even. "I have learned that Professor. Thanks to you. You really have made an impact in how I see things." He nodded. NOW he was done with feeling sad. He just wanted to be happy. Enjoy his last days in the castle. "But you have enjoyed us more right? You can't deny it Hadley! I don't see you speaking to any other students right now!" Apparently, Katie's fear had been justified after all. She hadn't meant to bother him, but instantly she knew she had and regretted that second thought. She had known better. She should have left it alone the first time, and yet she hadn't. Katie wished she had, very much so in that moment. Letting go as soon as Legend grabbed her wrist, she gave the slightest nod of her head to atleast show that she had heard him, but otherwise turned her head so she wouldn't catch his gaze.
It was one of those rare occasions that her face flushed, a visible mixture of regret and embarassment burning her cheeks with a light warmth. She could only hope that Hadley wouldn't notice, and that everyone else kept minding their own business. The fact that Legend kept her hand where it was only made her feel more stupid for her actions, and caused her to slip her hand out from under his and place it in her lap. She was not going to do it again.
Of all times she'd like a distraction, where were the other boys? Or maybe it was good they weren't here yet, Mat would be one of the first to point things out.
