Marilyn had always made him feel carefree and almost invincible. Even now, despite having a million things on his mind, he didn't feel any of the stress and worry that had been there minutes before. In fact, he felt more than ever, that things would be fine and he made the right choice.
He put his arm around her shoulders. "Well. I think we can work something out so you won't have to miss me so much." he said with a smirk and a wink. "Although, I hope you won't get tired of me. We do have to stuff a few years of missed time in the time we have left."
"You know...a helpless girl, like myself, might think you're taking advantage of her..." She smirked...trying to ease the tension that was building around her...but she was ultimately caught off guard when Carter draped his arm around her shoulders...
With the way he was looking at her and talking...She couldn't be sure...
"Carter?" She'd meant for his name to come out a bit stronger...but all that was managed was a weak whisper. Thank Merlin it was dark...and he couldn't see her face clearly. She cleared her throat, trying to abate the heat rising in her cheeks.
"What did you have in mind?"
