He continued staring at the wall as she talked. She thought about him... in a good way. He couldn't help but wonder if she was possibly thinking that same thing he was. Perhaps... they ended prematurely?
"Easy... because we were kids...? Or easy... because we were good together...?" he asked. The answer to that question made all the difference in the world. He wasn't sure whether or not there was a clear distinction between the two. He, himself, couldn't distinguish them. But, on the other hand, they seemed to be getting along just fine recently. So maybe it had nothing to do with their age?
He dared another look at her. She was biting her lip. He remembered that she used to do that. He'd always thought it was cute. And it usually meant that she wanted to be doing something else with them... And considering the current conversation, he guessed yelling was not on her mind.
Marilyn looked at the pile of rocks, frowning. Hogwarts, the school itself, had been through so much...just like it's students. But through all of that...the structure was still standing.
It was a testament to how much one could endure...like Marilyn had endured. She knew that what went down was not her fault. It'd taken some time, but she knew that now...However, the Slytherin was
grateful. Grateful to have learn such a valuable lesson...Grateful for the rude awakening that changed her life around.
Accountability...for all the people she'd hurt...which had brought Marilyn back here. Here standing in front of someone the Slytherin just recently realized that she'd missed terribly.
Had they been young and immature? Childish, even?
Yes, they had...but none of that could take away from the fact that they had been wonderful together. Amazingly wonderful. No fighting, no petty jealously...No fears.
"To be honest....I think...it's equally both." Of course she was biting that lip again, noticing how Carter was looking at her in the dimness of the wand light. His look was searching.
"I really...miss that."
