Kurumi knew that timing of this trick was the ticket. So, the moment Simon selected his card, Kurumi pushed all the cards back together into a neat stack and, while Simon checked on his card, she took a quick glance at the bottom card. It was done so quickly that Simon wouldn't have noticed - especially with his focus on the card he had selected.
