What type of debate is this? W being a vowel? It would have made more sense if they were debating whether Y is a vowel of a consonent.
Savannah never studied anything as far as telling the difference between a vowel and a consonent. She and her sisters were told, however, was that a, e, i, o, u were the only vowels in the English alphabet. And all the rest are consonents.
"I've got no idea professor, but I was told that a, e, i, o, u, were the vowels. And all the rest are consonents, so I'm going with that." Savannah said.
