"Max," Tate turned abruptly, giving Max a pointed look. "I said knock it off. You're scaring the ankle-biters, and I need you for crowd control. And what the hell is a deadlight?"
He turned back to the wall, giving the red paint a dab with one finger. Interesting. Impressive magic. And sad to admit... he probably needed Lafay.
"You'll live," Tate reached for Kurumi's hand and studied the paint there as well. "Just paint, so far as I can tell, and we should be able to get it off with some powerful household cleaners. We'll confer with Professor Lafay."
Tate dropped her hands and turned back to the wall rather than look again at the madness that was Vindictus and his cut-up associates. "They're all just a bit mad from this whole pirate thing. Excitable, I suppose."
"Nothing under the 'X'," Tate overheard a Slytherin nearby and gave the wall a firm pat. "The school is older than any pirate ships we've seen, and this wall is completely solid. And on the other side you've got..." He tried to gauge the distance around the corner. "A classroom or the Spirit Room. And we know there isn't treasure, as we've been in those rooms."

"Me Jack o' Cups," she half-whispered to him, and she nodded to a point down the corridor. "We should head for the treasure while these scallywags are overhauling the landlubbers."
Eh? What is the Head landlubber be speakin' of? Treats? Serial box?-- is that code of pirate prison?
Arrrr!
As he stands aside to watch the Headmaster investigate the red X, the First mate shifts his attention to the Captain and his crew, noticing them closing the gap between each other. Hmm...
He leaned slightly when Sierra whispered something to him, then nodded his head, eying Ivan and Lola to do the same as they do-- keep an eye on that scallywag Captain and his crew, as it wasnt the first time that th Captain left someone on a lurch when it comes to his own interests.
