This could mean levitating the target, giving it wings, changing its size or colour and so on. Remember that a charm does not change the inherent nature of an object - that is transfiguration. Transforming an object into, or reverting an object to, one that has a different set of vital functions - like a cup into a mouse - and conjuring objects out of nothingness is all part of transfigurational magic."

"Keeping that in mind, do you think there are some spells studied as charms, that could be called transfigurational spells? Or where the boundaries between Charms and Transfiguration blur?"

Riley continued to look around the room for another minute or so, taking in the wintery-ness of it all. It was actually kind of pleasant to look at rather than a normal classroom setting. But the Professor began to speak again so the Gryffindor's attention snapped back to the front of the 'room'.

Taking notes of what he man said, Riley thought hard for a moment about the question that was asked next. After some thinking, the seventh year raised his hand. "Professor, an example of what you are saying would be the charm that changes water into rum or tea, or any other liquid really. Although the change may not be perminent it still transfigures the physical state of the water into another liquid." Lowering his hand Riley was abit amazed by the words that came out of his mouth. Now to hope that they were all forming a right answer.
