Paranoid he looked around, eyes flashing at one baby animal to the next, seeing them not for their cuteness but for the danger that they pose to him in their adult form.
He nearly jumped all the way to the rafters when Kurumi started shrieking. "Basilisks?!? WHERE?!?!?" he whimpered back, staaaaring all around them. He seized the pitchfork for the hay, grabbed the little Gryff by her waist and jumped onto the crate. As he set her down Salander began waving the pitchfork around "If there are any basilisks around we should be safe up here." Yup all one foot off the ground.
"I said they
resembled vultures, not that they were vultures," Kurumi squeaked as she clung to his arm a bit more. "
They are extremely shy creatures. They couldn't harm a fluffy pillow let alone a person!" Honestly, Salander was being silly. "
They only fly in heavy rain and pretty much spend the rest of the time in their nests. And those are the adults! Juveniles are even more so. You don't have anything to worry about."
Salander's flailing made her return into panic mode once more as she forgot all about the gentleness of the green NON-vulture birds. "
KYAAA!" Kurumi was taken by surprise when Salander grabbed her like a rag doll and leaped up on a crate. He DID realize that he was bringing them closer to those supposed bird of prey he was worrying over earlier, right? Not that there was anything to worry about to begin with. "
Y-Y-You can speak Parselmouth...right? Y-Y-You are in Slytherin after all..."
Cue innocence...
