This was a hard question. He didn't really know the answer to this one either. But since she hadn't thought his simple 'I don't know," wasn't good enough, he figured it wouldn't work here either.

For when we were older, when both of us were really ready for a relationship. Maybe then. But that's only if there weren't other people. Any time my dad could die, I still have to look after El, worry about school work, try not to get killed at home, Violet...." The list seemed to go on and on.
