This is what he got for being joking around with such a serious matter as a heartbreak. It was serious to him, and now that she said she wouldn't, well, it made one question in his head seem like it shouldn't be asked in the first place. Yet, there was no way of knowing the answer to the question unless it was, eventually, asked. And it will be, just, not after this.

"Anyway, he told me he was doing great, which I believe was something you also witnessed," at least they knew the man was alive, and seemed happy enough, "And then we...discussed career paths." For who? He didn't say, but it was obvious that they'd been careers for Treyen.
