I am not sure I will be able to even enjoy the holidays for working on things," she said sadly. She had always loved the holidays... now they all seemed tarnished.

She nodded her head and lifted it off of his shoulder. "Well you know what you have to do and you are prepared to do it, even if it sucks... so you are a bit ahead of the game on that, yeah?" she said numbly.

Was it always business? Would he have time to grieve at all?

Ivan gave her a smile and squeezed her slightly. "It's my charming Vorpatril smile that lures them in," he teased. "Ah you know better than most how much of it is real and how much is just show," he said with a small smile.

"Well if you can take the time to visit her she'd appreciate it. I'll be away dealing with some stuff for most of the holidays. Probably come back for Christmas." He gave her another squeeze and leaned closer to kiss the top of her head. It'll be alright. Well he hoped so anyway.

"Yeah something like that." Not really though he felt like he was about to drown. "So what do you want for Christmas?" he asked changing the subject.
