Salander rapped his knuckles against the barrel again "Well Rum is even better when its really old..." he grinned mischievously, trying to hear if the barrel sounded filled with the sweet drink. It sounded... like it was empty, or at least filled with something else that wasnt liquid. Heaving a sigh he started to follow Simon exploring the lower deck when he started to sniff the air. There is a distinct odor around here "You smell that? 'Familiar but I couldnt quite recall what its supposed to be." Its strong, whatever it is.

Simon shrugged at Salander's comment about rum and he supposed the aging qualities of the liquor, not really interested in it anyway. His own reference was probably more towards wine anyway. He glanced briefly to his side as he surveyed the still half-dark down below deck, catching the knock on the barrel just in passing. At the mention of smell, the captain paused in his movement and made special effort to sniff the air, wrinkling his nose slightly as he did in fact pick it.

"Yeah...theres certainly something," he mused in agreement, trying to tell if there was a source of said smell.
