"Though most of you are all aware, I am indeed Professor Hadley and this will be my fourth term teaching at Hogwarts. Yes, Arithmancy is indeed a challenging subject, but I do hope that with my guidance, you should all develop at least a basic understanding of the subject."
Enough of those logistics though on her history. "Number mysticism began in Ancient Greece, hundred of years ago in the sixth century B.C. Most of you are probably aware that it began, ultimately with a man named Pythagoras." She paused, contemplating where to lead her lesson. "Numbers have power, but numbers do not control events and coincidences do happen." On that note, she decided to start with a non-numerological term. "But what exactly can be classified as a mere coincidence?" Knox, who was gazing lovingly down at his every so pretty phoenix feather quill looked up when Professor Hadley started talking. Something about number mysticism and Pythagoras and coincidences. All rather confusing.
"It would've been a coincidence if we'd worn the same the same outfit today, ma'am." Macnair said, hand in the air. Except.. well, chances of them wearing the same outfit was incredibly slim. But still. You never know!
