“Heather, you can mix the egg whites in that bowl over there,” she said gesturing towards a glass bowl on the counter. Seeing as electronics didn’t work at Hogwarts, Heather was in for some serious arm exercise. "You need to beat them until they can make a stiff peak..." Which should keep Heather out of trouble for the time being. Worst that could happen would be her pouring the stuff all over herself.
Losing herself in all the excitement of technically running her first proper baking lesson at Hogwarts, perhaps she ought to put those posters she had made last term up around the school after all, Kurumi had forgotten to introduce Hugo to Heather.
“Oh Hugo!” she squeaked bowing over and over to him in apology. “I am so sorry. This is Heather. She is my best friend in Gryffindor and that is Mr. Panda.” It seemed like many of her friends at Hogwarts kept the company of strange things, but Eino still took the cake with Faustus. “Heather, this is Hugo. He is in Ravenclaw and is another of my best friends.” Kurumi’s cheeks flushed a bit and she attempted to hide the face by sticking her face back into her cookie notebook.
Looking back up at Hugo, she pointed to a portion of the page. “Hugo, do you think you could take care of the simmering aspect of the dish? You just need to mix the cider, lemon zest, lemon juice, and sugar until they begin to boil. After, once Connor is finished with the apples, we will add those and they you need to keep stirring until the mixture becomes mushy.” She gestured towards the counter where everything had already been measured out. "Twinkle and I already finished the measurements, all you need to do is mix and stir." Almost like in Potions, but she left that fact out JUST in case Professor Lafay decided to magically appear in the kitchen and deduct house points for comparing potion brewing to cooking.
"I am glad to hear that," Kurumi chirped as she leaned over to inspect his apple chopping. "I think another apple or so and then we can add it to Hugo's saucepan once it starts boiling." Kurumi glanced back at her notebook. Time for her to take care of the more difficult portion of the dessert.
Connor chopped 2 more to be safe and then while he was waiting for Hugo's saucepan to start boiling he Lifted up what was left of the apples and turned to the house elf that Kurumi had been talking to. "Excuse me, but could you show me where these go, I will carry then for you." He said kindly as the Elf reached for the still quite heavy basket. Connor got down on one knee to get eye level with the little creature. "There's no need for you to carry this while I'm here. I will not allow you to hurt yourself, now come on, show me where it goes please?" He stood and lifted the basket with one arm and held his hand out to the female house elf. He smiled as the creature took his hand and showed him where to put the Basket of apples. Connor returned a moment later, coming walking around the corner with the house elf holding his hand and smiling. When he let go of her hand, he watched the creature to see if she tried to punish herself, she didn't and Half grinned, surprised that he had managed to charm the house elf, although he would not be surprised one bit if the creature developed a crush.
He turned to the gang and smiled at them. "Ok so the saucepan's not boiling yet, is there anything I can do to help now? I could make us all some earl grey, who fancies a cuppa?"
