Neptune couldn't pretend to know the first thing about Finny and Marie, but she knew what Jim had told her. With extreme caution, she proceeded, "It sort of sounds like an excuse maybe....?" Pause. "Maybe it's not you, Finny. If she broke up with you too..."

Finlay AND Jim?? Marie was crazy....? She'd had them both, and they BOTH really liked her. ONLY her. And she'd dumped them both. Neptune couldn't imagine it....? At all.....?

"Scared of you," SCOFF. "That's so ridiculous, Finlay. I can't think of a single reason why someone should be afraid of you. I bet they're just jealous." Neptune poked at his tummy. Poke. Poke. She didn't want to turn away from her? Or to feel bad because other people were stupid. "Maybe they're just looking at this hair." .....giggle....?
