'That's odd...' Tayla thought wearily. 'That doesn't sound like a whistle at all...'

"Ouch!" Tayla woke up suddenly, to find her tawny owl nipping at her arm. Kew-weik! Marigold made the sound again. "Marigold!" Tayla smiled and straightened up in her bed. "You didn't have to bite me. Good morning to you, too." She took a small paper bag from inside her trunk and gave Marigold some owl pellets from her hand.

At that moment, she noticed Zara, already in her Hogwarts robes, looking out the window. "Oh you're up already," Tayla said cheerfully. "Good morning! Let me just get read and I'll meet you in the common room." Remembering her dream, she added brightly, "And I'll tell you about my dream. It was a little odd, but good nonetheless."

Zara turned around to see Tayla awake already. "Oh hey. Yeah, I'm up." She smiled. No need to tell Tayla that she always woke up at this time. "Good morning. Sure, I'll wait for you and we'll go down together." Zara added cheerfully but in a soft voice.

Other girls were still fast asleep, she wouldn't want to be involved in a fight if they woke up because of her loud voice, especially if they were from a higher year. Gulp. Now that would be frightening, and it was her first day at Hogwarts. Well, first day waking up at Hogwarts, she wouldn't want to get detention right away.

"Let's hear about your dream when we head back downstairs to the common room. There, we'll wait for William so we could all go to the lake already. Wait, are we allowed to go outside right now?" Zara suddenly asked, worried. They might get punished. But it wasn't school hours yet, a little trip to the lake won't hurt. Right? Or not right?
