So, instead of telling the kid th long version, Jayce simply stated, "I lost my dog. Have you seen a puppy around anywhere?" he inquired before turning his gaze away and bending over to look under various chairs and tables in the room.

Bending, Jai looked under the table for the dog. Wondering if he was in a corner of the common room or if he made his way upstairs in the dorms. Not having it's owner, a pet can get scared and hide itself really well.
Christina jumped from her spot in the armchair as a small yelp came from... under her chair? She hung upside down to look, and only to see the squirming form of a small puppy.
"What are you doing here, little guy?" she whispered, grabbing the puppy and pulling it into her lap.
"Have you seen a puppy around anywhere?" The words reached her ears just as the puppy was curled up in Chris' lap with contentment, giving her those big eyes puppies were famous for.
"You boys missing something?" Chris said, pointing to her lap as she spoke.
