She shook her head. "No, it's not too hard if you practice," she replied, "and keep practicing." But that was pretty much the same with anything, really. You couldn't just try something once and expect to be an expert. It didn't work that way. "We'll start as soon as the practice pitch is open, then?" Which would hopefully be very soon. Vashti was anxious to get back on a broom.
Vashti's frown returned as soon as Louisa claimed that she wasn't a "quitter". "It's not about being a quitter or not," she said, giving the girl a hard stare even though she wasn't looking at Vashti. "It's about being reasonable and realistic. You think third year level defense is enough to take on a fully-grown man who isn't at all afraid of using the Unforgivable Curses?" She continued her stare, waiting for Louisa to look at her, or at least reply.
Hmm. "Maybe that's something you could try improving this year too," she suggested. "Instead of quitting when a professor gets all serious, you could make up your mind to try even harder at whatever it is you're trying to do." Easier said than done, perhaps, but who said trying hard was ever easy?
"
Oh, thank you thank you thank you!" Louisa said excitedly and gave Vashti a quick hug. Again, forgetting quickly about her irritation regarding the DADA matter.. which came up again. Louisa sighed and thought about what her friend just said. "
Well, it wouldn't be a piece of cake.." She admitted looking down at her hands resting on her lap, "
..but I can't just see Kitty lying in her basket and everybody back home blaming me about it and do nothing! It's not fair." She looked up at Vashti and had her sad victim-like face on. "
At least, I can try again. We didn’t find him that week.. maybe he's already dead! He must've had a lot of enemies." She tried to think 'realistically' as ordered before and that was the closest thing to an almost thirteen year old.
"I will work harder on classes this term.[/b]" She nodded smiling confidently. "
I want us to win the house cup this year." She looked over at the staff table and saw the headmaster about to give his speech. She turned around and was eager to know what's new this year.

Louisa gave her friend many curious and wondering looks during the headmaster's speech but didn't speak. There were many things that didn't make much sense to her. Once the tables were fills with food and the very first thing any rational person like Louisa would do…was to start asking questions. "
Lord Berty Borr? Isn't that the new minister?" She addressed Vashti. "
And.. who names a kid Berty?" She added grinning. It was a funny name. Snicker! "
I liked the group study thing. I think I study better with those." Her eyes rested on the pudding nearby and her stomach shouted 'HELLO!'.
"
Anyways, the ship's safe from what he said." She said half-standing and grabbing the pudding over to her side. "
And they'll let us explore it? That. Is. Fantastic." She said starting on the pudding. She had her mind diverted now between two equally important things: The ship and the pudding. Her spirit needed the first and her body needed the latter.
