Sierra gave a routine eye roll toward absolutely no one in particular. The Great Hall was just getting noisier by the second. The sound of some chattering person or possibly object grew louder and louder behind her. What in the name of Merlin?! With her eyebrows furrowed in slight annoyance, she turned around, hearing her name yelled quite loudly halfway through the spin.

Oh. Lulu Patterson. Well, Lulu was an obvious exception, as Sierra seemed to get along surprisingly well with the third year girl. She was loud, proud, and had a no-nonsense attitude about her similar to the one Sierra usually displayed. Plus, she was a proud Slytherin, which of course earned her enough brownie points to make up for the sound of her ferret making its grand appearance.

Sierra stood and moved to Lulu's end of the table, not because she was willingly obeying, though, but because the feast with Lulu was bound to be better than continuing to spend her time assessing the staff table. "Oh, hey, Lulu," she greeted. Oh, yes. Miss Greingoth could be very nice to a few certain people. She eyed Sir Robin, who she now knew to be the one responsible for the chattering sound she'd heard earlier. "Sir Robin will...," she said, continuing to eye the ferret, "...be less than pleased to meet Hissy Fit." She glanced down at the empty table, wishing there was at least a roll in front of her. "Well, anyway...how was your summer?"

He hadn't WANTED to face the fact that, with Sierra and Dad moving out, his whole world as he knew it was changing drastically. He wasn't used to a home with just one parent--let alone, one MOTHER. There was no MAN for him to look up to anymore!

Dressed in his Hufflepuff robes, he wandered over to the Slytherin table in search of his sister. He *GASP* missed her and just wanted to say hey and see how she was doing. He was even willing to go into the snake pit (quite literally!) in order to see her.

"Hey Sierra!" he called as he walked over to wear she sat. He plopped down on the empty bench next to her and smiled. "How's it going?"
Sierra immediately stiffened her body and widened her eyes. Whoever had just greeted her sounded overly-friendly, which likely meant a badger boy had escaped the confines of his own house table and wandered over to the snake pit. Michael White? Oh, please no. Cedric? Jake? Nahh. Long gone. In her new seat next to Lulu, Sierra slooooowly turned around, finally coming face to face with...

"...oh. Oh, Alex!" she said, her voice a little more excited than usual. It had been months, literally, since she'd seen her brother, and Merlin it looked like he'd grown even taller than he'd been the last time she'd seen him. Sierra had always secretly joked that Alex was half mountain troll, what with his unusual height of--what? 5'6"? 5'7"? Hmm...--at such a young age.

...and then awkwardness set in. Why? She didn't exactly know, but she found it sort of hard to think of something else to say. "So, ...how was your summer?" she finally asked. Yeah. That's what she wanted to know.

She was glad to be in Slytherin but being in the Griffindor house wouldn't be bad at all. At least she could see Josh in the common room.

She glanced at the staff table, they were all unfamiliar. For a moment she dreamt of being at Durmstrang right now but there was nothing to be done. "You should make new friends" she thought. And then turned her head to the girl sitting opposite her and said: "Hello, my name is Biscenleona. How do you do?" with a warm smile on her face.
Sierra had just finished questioning Alex about his summer, when she happened to glance across the table and see some unfamiliar older girl looking her way. Had she been here last school year? Hmm...nah. Sierra would have remembered her from at least a few classes or the common room. A transfer? Yeah. Most likely. ...but why was she trembling? Surely someone her age wasn't afraid of their first day of school?

She mentally assessed the girl for a moment and then finally spoke up. "Sierra Greingoth," she said, "...and I'll be much better once this feast gets underway and I can return to the common room." She paused and reminded herself that this was a new student and someone going out of their way to at least try and make a friend. She smiled and added, "It's good to meet you. Is this your first year here at Hogwarts?" Wow. She sounded so...Hufflepuff.
