I think I'd be a keeper if playing quidditch, mostly because I used to play in a goalkeeping position in football.
Out of the Hogwarts professors, I think McGonagall. She's such an interested character, both in lessons and out of them. Especially in the fifth book.

To answer your question - just have fun!
Try thinking of a character, if you want. Sometimes people base their characters on themselves. Maybe look around at other RPers, see how others role play. There's no 'wrong way' to role play.
