Melanie turned her head abruptly, looking almost surprised as she heard someone address her, simply because she'd been so distracted studying the Great Hall. "Looking forward to the summer?" she asked, taking a sip of water from her goblet. Melanie had mixed feelings about leaving. Presently, she just felt like tying herself to a table or something, though.
Isobel smiled at Melanie.
"Yes I am," she said excitedly.
"I'm going to be staying with my aunt in France, and she said I could invite some friends over. My aunt is a journalist, she we get to stay at her boss' house. Apparently it's really big." It was then that she realized that she had been talking really fast, and that Melanie probably didn't care. She stopped abruptly.
"Are you looking forward to your summer?" Then she remembered that Melanie was a seventh year. She considered adding,
Are you looking forward to the rest of your life? But that would have been weird, so she settled on,
"Are you sad to be leaving Hogwarts?"
